A Movie-Making 2013

An anonymous but positive thinker once said, “Here’s to the bright new year and a fond farewell to the old; here’s to the things that are yet to come, and to the memories that we hold.”

The bright new year begins memorably in movieland as we say a fond farewell to a fallen president, fairy tale guardians, a crude but cuddly Ted and a long list of characters created for 2012’s big screen as a Hobbit and a miserable, musical crew, among others, take center-box-office stage. Following an over $10 billion record-setting movie year, what is to come in 2013? Will The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey surprise no one as he continues to bounce as the box office’s Numero Uno or will Les Miserable make a post-Christmas cheer comeback? Lest we forget, Django Unchained freely took hold of the #2 spot the last week of 2012 while Parental Guidance and Jack Reacher held on at #4 and #5, respectively.

With the new year, naturally, comes new movies, although only one this weekend has box office killings at its cold, cinematic heart. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D has entered the (show) ring, hoping to slay its formidable competition. Who will survive and who will be eliminated this weekend?

From seaside days to starry movie nights, hope the new year tells the best tales!

Happy 2013 at the movies!
