Maintaining Movie Resolutions

Mark Twain once said, “New Year’s Day: Now is the accepted time to make your annual good resolutions. Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual.”

Last week, I (and I like to think many others) made a first-rate resolution to watch more movies, convinced it would make me a better, happier person and pave the way to the most entertaining form of Heaven. My intention? To find inspiration in the music and the misery of Les Miserable, to reach for more action and adventure in honor of brave Jack Reacher while taking a fantastical journey of the imagination alongside The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. I resolved to value the freedom found in the world of movies in appreciation of Django Unchained, who for a whopping 2hrs and 45 minutes freed his audience from oppressive holiday return lines. Parental Guidance, meanwhile, reminded me of the importance of family time (and competent babysitters).

With 2013 off to such an engaging start, I happily stand by my resolution and wonder in excitement about all the fantastic films to come from seaside days to starry movie nights!
