A Nostalgic Weekend at the Movies

“Hear no evil, speak no evil – and you’ll never be invited to a party.” Oscar Wilde

The party occurring at your local movie theater this weekend spoke volumes, as the horror remake “Evil Dead” was living well at the #1 U.S. box-office spot, earning a non-malevolent $24.2 million. Last week’s #1, “G.I. Joe,” found his “Retaliation” of sorts with an additional $21.1 million added to the box-office bank and a tie for the #2 place with “The Croods,” who continued to create a new world with $21.1 million added to their piggybank.  “Jurassic Park,” in its entire “3D” splendor, clomped into movie theaters on a much grander scale than it did back in 1993, finding distinction among the extinction while commanding the #4  spot with $18.2 million. “Olympus Has Fallen” a notch to fifth place, guarding presidents and another $10 million in ticket sales.

The party goers had so much to cinematically celebrate this weekend! Good versus evil (with the living naturally battling the questionably dead), road trips and retaliation mingling with animation alongside (attempted presidential) assassination; all contained in its own nostalgia-inspiring theme park. Clearly, a party for which everyone was invited!

From seaside days to starry nights, may your week ahead have its own lively blend of creativity and inspiration…
