A Supersized Weekend

“The Man of Steel” makes his grand entrance this weekend, hoping to “Purge” moviegoers of murdering maniacs, idle salesmen applying for “The Internship” and magicians declaring “Now You See Me” disappearing with your movie money. The strong-as-steel hero knows it takes traveling at a “Fast & Furious 6” speed to reach the top of the cinematic charts. No worries, after all, he IS faster than a speeding bullet (strengthened by his 75-year heroic history). Between battling supervillians, the competition and Kryptonite, we moviegoers worried that “This is the End” of Clark Kent can rest assured that the troubled Superman will prevail at the box office in “Epic” proportions.
Where will your movie guide take you this weekend? Searching for life’s meaning within a Kansas farm or an animated forest? Perhaps you prefer the fast streets of London and Moscow or an illusionary, theatrical stage. If theatrics is your poison, a trip to James Franco’s party paradise may provide the laughs while a visit to nearby Silicon Valley is sure to lift your spirits (or make you appreciate the job you have). The perils produced by “The Purge,” however, should be safely contained within the confines of the darkened multiplex.
From seaside days to starry nights, may heroes and humor find a home at a movie theater near you this weekend…
