High-Flying Entertainment

“The Smurfs 2” feel a bit blue after their opening weekend, leaving them shouting “Despicable Me 2” get lost in the lively, family-friendly mix. Despite their less-than-blockbuster start, they’re ready to welcome new, high-flying members to the animated arena this week. “The Wolverine” happily shakes hands of sorts with HIS competition, wishing them a fair shake at the box office. “2 Guns” has already done damage control, doing their part for the movie economy while protecting unsuspecting moviegoers from box-office bombs. Terror has certainly had its deadly day, “Conjuring” fear within the hardiest of horror buffs.
Summer is flying by, as indicated by the “Planes” towering over the above-it-all residents of “Elysium,” where Matt Damon and Jodi Foster are fighting for first-class survival (and blockbuster appeal). Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Anniston, meanwhile, declare “We’re the Millers” to moviegoers looking for a different kind of family entertainment. Everyone looking for entertainment is in for a treat, as our latest characters blend effortlessly with the already-on-the-scene movie pack.
Make believe meets science fiction on the big screen, where movie buffs connect with crime stoppers, comedy climbers and creatures of blue, as well as all colors of the rainbow, to find their very own pot of gold. It’s a lucky week, indeed, at your local multiplex…
