Gravity Glides past the Captain and Carrie

An unhinged girl haunting the hallowed halls of high school was no match for heroic astronauts wandering through space, as “Gravity” showed no signs of traveling back to earth anytime soon, securing the #1 spot at the domestic box office once again with $31 million. In his second week out at sea, “Captain Phillips” sailed to the #2 spot with $17.3 seaworthy million. Everyone’s favorite telepathic teenager “Carrie” felt left out of school activities, but found a welcoming home at #3 with $17 million. Weather in the land of movies was still “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2” delicious for just a single serving, as the hungry, endangered band of “foodimals” found a safe, colorful haven at #4 with $10.1 million. Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger concocted the most brilliant (but not particularly profitable) “Escape Plan,” as they ran all the way to the #5 spot with $9.8 million.
All-out entertainment defied the laws of gravity this week as a trek to the movie theater promised trips to space along with animation to suit everyone’s taste; prison breaks battled psychotic break downs as characters of all ages and color, the Captain and a creepy Carrie provided the perfect escape from the real world thanks to their larger-than-life reel world.
From seaside days to starry nights, may your week ahead come with the most entertaining break from reality…
