Murders, Mysteries and Mayhem

It was quite the weekend for our female cast members, who may have temporarily lost their way but ultimately found their place on the movie map. The infamous “Gone Girl” was most definitely going places, taking her mysterious trek to the top of the domestic box office with $38 million in finder’s fees. Appearing a bit early for Halloween, “Annabelle” was having a horrid ball from the #2 spot with $37.2 million. “The Equalizer” leveled the playing field from the #3 place with $19 million. “The Boxtrolls” learned to think outside the box from the open space of #4 with $12.4 million. “The Maze Runner” was last seen running amok, albeit in the young book-adaptation sense, from the #5 zone with $12 million.
A disappearing dame and a deadly doll were alive and well, at least in the movie sense, this weekend, taking on the trolls, the teens and the always-terrific Denzel.
Horrid or heartfelt? Which topic told the best tale this weekend?
