Hungry Holiday Entertainment

For the third week in a row, the young-adult adaptation “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” continued to feed the hungry movie masses from the top spot at the domestic box office with $21.6 million. Our frosty DreamWorks’ spinoff “Penguins of Madagascar” friends felt the love once again from the #2 place with $11.1 million. Horrors of the comedic kind were occurring at the #3 zone thanks to those “Horrible Bosses 2” with $8.6 million. The Disney/Marvel “Big Hero 6” was a big hit at the #4 area with $8.1 million. The stars were shining above the “Interstellar” galaxy, also known as the #5 region, with $8 million.

Although a slow weekend at the movies, holiday shoppers with a hunger for huge entertainment were not disappointed, as follow-up films and unconventional heroes united to provide weary bargain hunters a respite from the latest must-have gadgets.
