Hobbits and Holiday Spirit

Starting the cinematic party a few days early, the much-anticipated “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” battled bravely and took hold of the #1 spot at the domestic box office with $56.2 million (ultimately taking in $90.6 million over a five-day period). Moviegoers happily spent a “Night at the Museum: (and discovered the) Secret of the Tomb” from the mysterious #2 place with $17.3 million. Little orphan “Annie” could be heard singing a joyful tune at the #3 area with $16.3 million. “Exodus: Gods and Kings” held a party fit for a, well, king at the #4 land with $8. 07million. Stepping down to the #5 zone, “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1” was expertly conducted to the tune of $7.75 million.

So many debuts added cheer to an already festive time of year, as games were played among the Gods and Kings, secrets were entertainingly exposed, battles were profitably won and movie lovers left theaters with a song in their hearts.

Which of our entertaining tales lifted your holiday spirits this weekend?
