A Happy Start to a New Movie Year

“Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, it will be happier.” Alfred Lord Tennyson

“The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” was smiling once again, starting the new year on a happier tone than his comrades while once more winning the domestic box-office war with $21.9 million. A cinematic journey “Into the Woods” led harmoniously to the #2 place with $19 million. Resilient spirits stood tall and “Unbroken” from the #3 corner with $18.3 million. “The Woman in Black: Angel of Death” made her horrifying presence known from the scary neighborhood of #4 with $15.1 million. The crew within the “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” enjoyed the light emanating from the #5 spot with $14.4 million.

The year 2015 started with just the right movie note; where against the backdrop of dark, mysterious nights, our imaginative characters followed those wooded trails leading to woeful horrors during these waning holidays, as war heroes and wicked hobbits crossed paths with the coolest fairytale creatures to find the music within (courtesy of Meryl and company).

Which of our post-holiday tales made for a happier start to the New Year for you?
