Will our movie world continue to colorfully turn “Fifty Shades of (profitable) Grey” this weekend or will the “Focus” twist to a cool con man in the form of Will Smith? Not if our elusive superspy “Kingsman: The Secret Service” has anything to say about it, as he tries in vain to become king of the box office. Our reigning animated champ, “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” intends to hold the hearts of innocent audience members for as long as he can tread water during these waning winter months.
Of course, cold moviegoers looking forward to a soothing, temperate spring might want to take the “Hot Tub Machine 2” forward in time to a more pleasant climate (while bringing in better box-office numbers for the watery crew). Those warm and friendly hot tubers might want to pick up the still-hot “American Sniper” on their way to the sizzling future in the hopes that his passionate presence will rub off on them (and their brand of humor might lighten his heavy load). Sports enthusiasts in “McFarland, USA” are passionate about their players while those fiery girls congregating around “The DUFF” are too busy perfecting their glamorous appearances to concern themselves with their less-pressed competition. As if polished princesses aren’t enough, we also have to deal with the undead experiencing “The Lazarus Effect” while creeping out passersby with their horrifying appearance.
Which passionate presence or creepy crawler will you choose to spend time with this weekend?
