Insurgent Soars

Stepmother-challenged Cinderella was the bell of the box-office ball last weekend, trading in her cleaning gloves for glass slippers. After riding off into the fairy tale sunset, she took one step down to allow the coming-of-age kids comprising The Divergent Series: Insurgent to shine. Although there’s nothing sparkly about The Gunman, he was packing heat; engaging audiences (while enraging gun-control advocates). Kingsman: The Secret Service continued offering his services to audiences, telling the cleverest secrets for the price of a movie ticket.

The action-oriented preferred a long Run All Night during which time they discovered the reel world is a mystical place filled with inspiring tales where justice (and recurring sequels) prevails.

Which of our believing tales possessed the most spirit this weekend?

1. The Divergent Series: Insurgent $54 million.

2. Cinderella $34.4 million.

3. Run All Night $5.12 million.

4. The Gunman $5.01 million.

5. Kingsman: The Secret Service $4.6 million
