To the surprise of absolutely no one, the long and winding road to the top of the box-office charts ended on a Furious 7 note this weekend, with the long-anticipated ride traveling at high velocity speed, breaking April box-office records on the way to the best parking spot. Home is still where the heart is, but animation now resides in a slightly lower level of the movie house as audiences continued to Get Hard and chose edge-of-your-seat action over alien activity and amusing adventures. The Divergent Series: Insurgent was still surging among its youthful, series-loving crowd while the forever-young Cinderella, while still the belle of her own ball, is slowly making her way out of the Top Five (but still remaining on the best-dressed list as a consolation prize).
Fast cars and a fantastic cast set the bar high this weekend, taking up the biggest seat at the box office. The back seat, however, was far from empty, as colorful animation, comedy, cool kids, and, of course, Cinderella were all enjoying a less-scenic rollercoaster ride to fame and fortune.
