“A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
Are you in need of a Marvel hero or two, one guaranteed to be bravely saving moviegoers from insipid stories all weekend long? Luckily, Captain America: Civil War has finally arrived, prepared to do battle, in the most civil manner, of course, with his far-less epic competition. How long will his reign last? Will last week’s champion, The Jungle Book, still make for a darn good read in light of all that hero worshiping? Might our favorite cat Keanu keep the non-hero-obsessed crowd in stitches this weekend or will he be relegated to the back of the movie line with the also-comedic crew employed at Barbershop: The Next Cut? Are they next on the box-office chopping block? What about that other animal-infested world? Will a visit to Zootopia be so last month?
Now that Mother’s Day is here, will mom lovers be celebrating at their local movie theater (or the nearest bar?) Is there anything left to celebrate for The Huntsman: (whose) Winter’s War has hardly been worth writing home about?
Which of our written-in-the-stars tales will take up the most space in our cinematic universe this weekend? (any guess that doesn’t include that always-warring American Captain doesn’t count).
