The box-office war was fought, and to the surprise of no one, won once again this weekend by Captain America: Civil War, who raked up enough profits to laugh all the way to the all-American bank and far surpassed the readers of The Jungle Book, who were still profitably amused, thank you very much. That greedy Money Monster, led by George Clooney and Julia Roberts, made their own thrilling, profitable killing. The Darkness brought a bit of gloom and doom (and Kevin Bacon!) while Mother’s Day was still being celebrated (as was the aforementioned Julia Roberts) at local, mom-loving movie theaters.
Taking on Marvel heroes is never advisable, but that didn’t stop their worthy opponents from trying. A bit of horror, and the presence of a Bacon brother, made us happy, money was the root of all evil entertainment, moms were well represented and the jungle was still the most colorful place to visit.
Did a visit to your local movie theater add color to your world this weekend?
