Family-friendly crowds gathered in droves to watch The Angry Birds Movie, which ironically added calmness and color to our movie world as it beat the cinematic pants off our former champ, Captain America: Civil War. The neighborhood gave a warm welcome to its most popular Neighbors 2: (back for the) Sorority Rising, causing an uprising of their own among that neighborly R-rated crowd. The Nice Guys happily didn’t finish last, at least in the box-office ring, as action and comedy blended quite nicely. Despite all the new faces (and bitter birds) in town, The Jungle Book was still being perused by animated-loving audiences.
A captain was demoted, neighbors were still demented, Gosling and Crowe made nice, a classic book remained a childhood favorite and our feathered friends helped us find the child within.
