The Aliens Take Down the Guards

It was smooth sailing for the latest ALIEN: (aboard the) COVENANT, at least from an audience perspective, as our favorite foreign beings invaded our movie universe, claiming the top spot at the domestic box office. Former champ GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY: VOL 2, meanwhile, clobbered the rest of the earthly competition. Switching storytelling gears, young love meant EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING to moviegoers looking for romantic angst as opposed to alienation.
Comedy seekers got SNATCHED up once more by girl power as audiences discovered within the pages of the DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: THE LONG HAUL to the local movie theater was filled with a slew of cinematic pot holes, making that endless journey entertaining.
It was a powerfully entertaining weekend at the movies, with an adapted comic book still killin’ it, aliens sailing aboard one successfully freaky ship, young tortured love in all its dramatic glory, a torturous family road trip and one starry island adventure. Happily, all of our characters felt right at home on the Big Screen.
Which of our adventure seekers made you feel at home on this mighty movie weekend?

Estimated Domestic Box Office Results:
1. Alien: Covenant $36 million.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2 $35.1 million.
3. Everything, Everything $12 million.
4. Snatched $7.6 million.
5. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul $7.2 million.
