Horror Takes Hold of the Stars

“When witches go riding, & black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, Tis near Halloween.” Unknown
The closer we get to Halloween, the creepier it gets around here. Halloween (the horror movie not the holiday) took us on one frightening trip back in time, catapulting us into the petrifying present (no ominous black cat required). Does Michael Myers have what it takes to hold our horror attention this weekend? Will the nightmare-inspiring Suspiria contain the stuff (movie) dreams are made of, highlighting The Fog soon to roll in, or will a little more Venom be all we need to satisfy our dark cinematic desires? Perhaps Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween will be the most desirable locale this weekend, offering a more imaginative, less creepy, place to visit.
Maybe A Star is Born is what we need to fill our movie nights with magic instead of malevolence. No worries about all the wickedness which surrounds our story days, though, since the Hunter Killer is soon to arrive, with a strange assist from Johnny English Strikes Again, each promising to protect us from all the evilness occurring from pre-Mid90s and beyond (in their own unique way).
Then there’s the kindness and courage found within the First Man. With the moon casting the ultimate backdrop, will his star be the last to shine?
Scary or starry? I just can’t decide which film to see first! Can You Ever Forgive Me?
