A Welcoming Return

There’s an embarrassment of riches within movie theaters this last weekend before Santa’s Big Arrival. Our wish for great entertainment has most certainly been granted during our travels alongside Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, who invited us along on a fantastical animated ride. No slouch in the animation department, Ralph Breaks the Internet but leaves enough room in our cinematic space for the likes of Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, who is clearly not as gracious, sneaking ahead of clumsy Ralph in last week’s box-office lineup.
Among so many fantastic films, will those Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald be left out in the cold? Might The Mule slow his legendary pace this weekend while still outpacing Mortal Engines, who were none too happy relegated to the back seat?
Of course, it being Gift-Giving Season, we can expect some big-time entertainment from a few of our starry friends. Aquaman is soon to arrive to save the world and splash a bit of above-water fun on our cinematic celebration. Sure to be celebrated is The Return of Mary Poppins, destined to charm a whole new generation.
We can expect a balance to all that merriment thanks to Welcome to Marwen, which most certainly will not be welcoming a lot of laughs despite Steve Carell’s presence. Then there’s a visit with Bumblebee, who’s also offering some heavy-duty drama.
Lastly, a Second Act is in store for our slew of holiday stars before the lights officially dim on 2018.
Which act are you most excited to see this weekend?
